Storage Strategies, Inc. (SSI) is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to provide blue team support for the research, testing, and development of advanced military systems.

The role requires designing and implementing secure systems, analyzing cybersecurity risks, and maintaining security throughout the lifecycle of complex military platforms. The ideal candidate will have DoD policy experience, active clearance, and proficiency with MITRE ATT&CK/D3FEND, ACAS vulnerability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with extensive experience in system hardening, networking/virtualization, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
• DoD 8570.01-M Baseline Certification, minimum IAT Level III.

Responsibilities

• Analyze cybersecurity risks in military systems and mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Design and implement secure architectures to prevent breaches.
• Perform Testing & Evaluation (T&E) to identify weaknesses and enhance controls.
• Maintain cybersecurity measures across the system lifecycle.
• Evaluate and enhance legacy system security.
• Apply MITRE ATT&CK and MITRE D3FEND to strengthen defenses.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments using ACAS and remediate findings across Linux and Windows.

Job description

Overview

SSI is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to provide blue team, cybersecurity engineering support for the research, testing, and development of advanced military systems. As cyber threats continue to rise, integrating robust security measures from the outset is critical. This role involves analyzing cybersecurity risks, designing and implementing secure systems, conducting rigorous testing, and maintaining cybersecurity throughout the lifecycle of military systems. The ideal candidate will also assess and enhance the security posture of legacy systems to ensure resilience against emerging threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze cybersecurity risks in military systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Design and implement secure architectures to prevent cyberattacks and unauthorized access.
• Perform Testing & Evaluation (T&E) on systems to identify weaknesses and enhance security controls.
• Maintain and enforce cybersecurity measures throughout the entire system lifecycle.
• Evaluate and enhance the security of legacy systems to ensure continued compliance and protection.
• Apply advanced cybersecurity frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and MITRE D3FEND to strengthen defense mechanisms.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments using tools such as the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and remediate findings by implementing vendor patches across Linux and Windows environments.
• Design, implement, configure, and enforce security controls on networks, hardware, and software components.
• Stay updated on emerging threats and provide threat intelligence insights to enhance system security.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and 10 years OR a PhD and 5 years OR a master's degree and 8 years of experience in the following areas:
  • System hardening to protect against cyber threats.
  • Networking and virtualization technologies.
  • Application and enforcement of DoD cybersecurity policies and security tools.
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Threat intelligence analysis to identify emerging threats.
  • Implementation and management of security controls across diverse IT environments.
• Certifications: DoD 8570.01-M Baseline Certification, minimum IAT Level III, in accordance with DFARS 252.239-7001.
• Clearance: Active Secret or higher required.
