Job summary

ABB Inc. seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer to coordinate the development, implementation, and onboarding of digital solutions with a focus on OT security.

You will support solution delivery through technical coordination and provide customer training across the lifecycle, working with Sales and technical teams. Based in Houston with a hybrid option, you will apply cybersecurity to OT environments, capture requirements, and demonstrate how ABB's offerings address operational challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in cybersecurity, including at least 2 years in industrial automation or OT environments.
  • Strong understanding of ICS/SCADA systems, Modbus, OPC, and industrial communication standards.
  • Knowledge of OT security best practices and cybersecurity frameworks, including IEC 62443, NIST, and ISO/IEC 2700x.
  • Familiarity with OT patching strategies and cyber platforms.

  • Deliver technical support to customers by assisting them in applying cybersecurity solutions that improve security and resilience for OT environments.
  • Execute and support cybersecurity solution implementation, contributing to timely, cost-effective project delivery through coordination and technical expertise.
  • Provide training and ongoing support across the solution lifecycle, from onboarding through post-deployment, to support adoption and long-term customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Sales and technical teams to understand customer requirements and demonstrate how cybersecurity offerings address specific operational needs.

Job description

As a Cybersecurity Engineer at ABB Inc., you will help coordinate and facilitate the development, implementation, and onboarding of digital solutions with an emphasis on applying cybersecurity to operational technology (OT) environments. The role also includes customer technical support and training across the solution lifecycle, with collaboration alongside Sales and technical teams to present cybersecurity offerings.

Location and Work Model
  • Location: Houston, TX
  • Work model: Hybrid (must be in Cleveland, OH or Houston, TX)
Salary Range
  • USD: $83,300 - $133,280 per year
Role Overview

You will apply cybersecurity to OT settings, support solution delivery through technical coordination, and ensure customers successfully adopt implemented cybersecurity capabilities. You will also help capture requirements and demonstrate how ABB cybersecurity offerings align to customer operational challenges.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in cybersecurity, including at least 2 years in industrial automation or OT environments.
  • Strong understanding ofICS/SCADA systems, network protocols (including Modbus and OPC), and industrial communication standards.
  • Knowledge of OT security best practices and cybersecurity frameworks, including IEC 62443, NIST, and ISO/IEC 2700x.
  • Solid foundation in cybersecurity fundamentals, including risk assessments, access control, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Familiarity with cyber platforms (such as AV solutions, backup and recovery, and network monitoring) and OT patching strategies.
  • Focus on safe work practices and adherence to workplace safety guidelines.
  • Ability to travel up to 65%.
  • US Citizen or authorization to work in the United States is required.
  • Relocation reimbursement is not available.
