Job summary

A defense contracting firm is seeking a Cybersecurity Cloud Subject Matter Expert to ensure the security of cloud-hosted IT systems in accordance with DOD requirements. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of experience in securing complex IT systems, possess cloud certifications, and a DOD SECRET Clearance. This position offers a competitive salary range of $115,000 - $185,000 alongside a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan.

Summary

The Cybersecurity Cloud Subject Matter Expert will ensure the architecture and design of cloud‑hosted IT systems are secure and meet DOD requirements.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

• Reviews Cloud security policy and provides recommendations for improvement to enhance the security posture within the cloud as well as the ability to meet protection, detection, monitoring and response requirements for systems and data.
• Applies knowledge of current advances in cloud security engineering and cloud security threats to provide support for the deployment of programs and applications.
• Provides input to programs throughout the process of deployment to ensure systems meet DOD compliance requirements.
• Provides guidance to assessment staff in the performance of Cybersecurity Vulnerability Assessments as related to cloud hosting environments.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge

• Excellent organizational skills.
• Familiar with information security and assurance principles and associated supporting technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of Seven (7) years of experience securing and architecting complex IT systems.
• At least Five (5) years in cloud environments (e.g., OCI, AWS, Azure).
• Experience leading or significantly contributing to cloud security assessments, audits, or compliance reviews.
• Extensive knowledge of cloud security best practices, frameworks, and standards (e.g., CIS Controls, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CSA Cloud Controls Matrix).
• Cloud certification (GCP, OCI, AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Experience working with enterprise DoD IT.
• Required to possess a DOD SECRET Clearance and be eligible for an IT‑I Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 5 (T5) at time of proposal submission.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Pay and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $115,000 - $185,000.
