Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking an IceCube Computing Manager to lead the CI team, oversee computing facilities, and ensure timely access to data and services for the IceCube Collaboration. The role focuses on renewable data operations, coordinating with partners and computing centers worldwide.

Ideal candidates will have extensive IT leadership experience, architectural oversight of HPC/storage, and strong collaboration across diverse scientific teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading and mentoring computing/software professionals.
• Collaborate effectively across multi-institutional collaborations.
• Hands-on with distributed HPC and large data storage architectures.
• Coordinate access and ops across remote/distributed centers.
• Summarize performance/requirements in reports for leadership & sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Advise on CI topics and participate in institution-wide IT planning - 10%.
• Direct technical aspects of cyber infrastructure projects and proposals - 15%.
• Apply advanced research computing concepts to design and evaluate systems - 20%.
• Contribute to CI policy development and departmental procedures - 5%.
• Prepare reports of project status for reviews and sponsors - 5%.
• Exercise supervisory authority over at least 2.0 FTEs - 10%.
• Coordinate technical work with internal/external stakeholders - 10%.
• Lead a team delivering CI resources and new hardware/software - 25%.
