Job summary

Jackson State University’s Division of Information Technology seeks a CI Facilitator to advise educators and researchers on cyberinfrastructure usage in teaching and research. The role fosters workforce development and coordinates with internal and external providers to deploy new solutions.

You will collaborate across departments to design, debug, and optimize cyberinfrastructure-dependent workflows, and you’ll develop training opportunities for faculty, staff, and students.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to convey complex concepts to non-specialists.
• Experience using or applying technology to curricula, learning, or research.
• Desire for and/or experience in supporting technology use by educators and researchers.
• Experience with Linux/unix shell (command-line).
• Experience installing and executing programs in a Linux environment.
• Experience with scientific programming languages (C/C++, Python, Fortran, R, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Engage with JSU educators and researchers to advise on cyberinfrastructure use for education and research.
• Identify and promote cyberinfrastructure workforce development and funding opportunities for JSU faculty, staff, and students.
• Collaborate with JSU IT and external cyberinfrastructure providers to design and implement new solutions.
• Work with faculty, staff, and students to facilitate design and debugging of workflows dependent on cyberinfrastructure.
• Identify, promote, develop, and deliver training opportunities for cyberinfrastructure operation and use.
• Other duties as assigned.
