Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Cyber Systems Engineer to join the Cybersecurity Team supporting the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) program. The role requires ensuring compliance with program security throughout the lifecycle and collaborating with leadership, engineering, cybersecurity, and other functions to implement mitigation strategies.

The candidate will support accreditation, interpret security requirements, and address gaps.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 2 years cyber systems experience OR Master’s in STEM with 0 years experience
  • Active Secret security clearance required
  • DoD 8140/8570 certification (e.g. Security+ CE)
  • Experience with diagnosing root causes with software developers or vendors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced agile environment coordinating with systems engineering, software, integration/test, configuration management and program stakeholders to support cybersecurity across the system lifecycle
  • Apply systems thinking to evaluate cybersecurity impacts across architecture and mission needs
  • Support the system accreditation process to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO) and RMF
  • Review system vulnerability scans and mitigation reports
  • Interface with internal management and external stakeholders as a technical liaison

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking a Cyber Systems Engineer to join Cybersecurity Team supporting the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) program.

The preferred candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable program security requirements throughout the system development lifecycle. The individual will collaborate with program leadership, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and other functional organizations to interpret security requirements, access compliance, identify gaps and risks, and develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

Essential Functions:

Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment with customer involvement. Coordinate with systems engineering, software, integration/test, configuration management, and program stakeholders to support cybersecurity execution across the system lifecycle. Apply systems thinking to evaluate cybersecurity impacts across system architecture, operational constraints, and mission needs. Support the system accreditation process to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO) and experience in conducting system security assessments outlined through the RMF process Review system vulnerability scans and mitigation reports Interface with internal management, other cyber functional areas, and other internal and external stakeholders as a technical liaison undefined

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in STEM field with 2 years of cyber systems experience – OR – master’s degree in a STEM field with 0 years of cyber systems experience Active Secret security clearance required. Must currently possess DoD 8140/8570 certification (e.g. Security+ CE). Experience working with software developers and/or vendors as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with supporting preparation and presentation of cybersecurity and systems engineering materials for program reviews, working groups, and stakeholder discussions. Familiar with the Software Development Lifecycle and software security best practices Experience with network design, including IP subnetting and protocols Experience working in Linux environments

Primary Level Salary Range:

$96,300.00 - $144,500.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
