Job summary

Evertec is seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist to lead firewall administration, policy design, and network security across on-prem and cloud environments in the Puerto Rico region.

You will monitor threats, review logs, and implement NGFW/IDS/IPS/EDR while collaborating with infrastructure and cloud teams. The role requires a Bachelor’s in CS/CE, 5+ years’ experience, and bilingual English/Spanish.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity and firewall administration.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point or Cisco Firepower.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, NAT, and Zero Trust architectures.
• Experience in hybrid on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
• Certs such as PCNSA/PCNSE, NSE4+, CCNP Security preferred.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network perimeter for cybersecurity threats and unauthorized access.

• Conduct rule reviews, security assessments, and audits for compliance.
• Investigate security incidents and support root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with infra, cloud, and app teams for secure connectivity.
• Develop and maintain technical docs, standards, runbooks, and procedures.

Your responsibilities as a Cybersecurity Specialist will be:

• Lead the administration, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise firewall platforms.
• Design, implement, and maintain security policies, access control rules, NAT configurations, VPNs, and network segmentation strategies.
• Monitor and protect the organization's network perimeter against cybersecurity threats and unauthorized access.
• Analyze firewall logs, network traffic, and security events to identify risks, anomalies, and potential threats.
• Implement and maintain security technologies such as Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), IDS/IPS, EDR/ATP, and network security controls.
• Conduct firewall rule reviews, security assessments, and configuration audits to ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
• Investigate security incidents related to network infrastructure and support root cause analysis and remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to ensure secure connectivity and proper security control implementation.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, security standards, runbooks, and operational procedures.

In addition, you can make a difference if you meet:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or firewall administration within enterprise environments.
• Hands‑on experience managing Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, Cisco Firepower, or similar enterprise firewall technologies.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPN technologies, NAT, SSL inspection, network segmentation, and Zero Trust architectures.
• Experience supporting hybrid environments (on‑premises and cloud), including Azure and AWS network security controls.
• Knowledge of security technologies such as NGFW, IDS/IPS, NAC, WAF, Secure Web Gateway, and ZTNA.
• Professional certifications such as PCNSA/PCNSE, NSE4+, CCNP Security, Security+, or equivalent are highly preferred.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, PCI-DSS, and CIS Controls.

Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Available to work extended hours, weekends, and/or holidays as needed and the availability to travel as required to support projects in the region.
