Job summary

United Launch Alliance, LLC. is seeking a Cyber Security Intern to gain hands-on experience across security disciplines and participate in real-world projects.

You will help defend networks, support incident response, and collaborate on security solutions while preparing clear reports for stakeholders. The role requires pursuing a STEM bachelor's degree, Fall 2027 enrollment, and a full-time summer commitment of at least 10 weeks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2.90 GPA at time of application.
• Valid driver’s license and transportation if assigned to certain internship locations.
• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• Must be enrolled in classes Fall Semester 2027.
• Able to work full-time for at least 10 weeks in Summer 2027.
• Interest in learning: Endpoint protection, firewall configuration, RMF, SIEM, threat hunting, forensics, etc.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience as Cyber Defenders, Engineers, or Governance, Risk, and Compliance specialists.
• Support incident response efforts, including investigating security incidents and documenting findings.
• Collaborate on design and implementation of security solutions to protect infrastructure and data.
• Prepare reports communicating security status, compliance findings, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Shadow and assist experienced professionals and participate in larger projects within the aerospace industry.

Job Overview & Responsibilities

As a Cyber Security Intern at United Launch Alliance you'll gain hands-on experience and will have the opportunity to:

• Gain experience as Cyber Defenders, Engineers, or Governance, Risk, and Compliance specialists to develop their skills to manage risk and defend networks against an ever-growing threat landscape.
• Support incident response efforts, including investigating security incidents, documenting findings, and recommending remediation actions.
• Collaborate on the design and implementation of security solutions to protect the organization’s infrastructure and data.
• Help prepare reports and documentation to communicate security status, compliance findings, and risk mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
• Support one or more experienced business professionals in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of the business side of the aerospace industry.

Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the ULA community and with fellow interns!

Required Education

At minimum completed Freshmanyear of college or university by the time of the summer internship assignment.

• High School/GED

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a minimum college GPA of 2.90 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application; cumulative, no rounding. NOTE: An unofficial transcript is required if you are invited for an interview. We recommend you upload it to your profile when you apply.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and motorized vehicle transportation if assigned an internship in Alabama; California; Florida; or Pueblo, Colorado. For Denver, Colorado and Washington, DC, motorized transportation is recommended.

Role Specific Qualifications

• At minimum, actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university.
• Preferred degree focus for this internship is in Cyber Security , Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information or Computer Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, or relevant field of study.
• Must have plans to be enrolled in classes during Fall Semester 2027.
• Ability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer of 2027.
• Must have an interest in learning any of the following:
  • Endpoint Protection stack
  • Firewall configuration and rule logic
  • Risk Management Frameworks and Security Plans
  • Email security systems
  • Intrusion detection and prevention systems
  • Enterprise Security, Cyber Security and user access management
  • Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) Systems
  • Threat Hunting
  • Digital Forensics and Incident Response
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
• Effective presentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to complete an internship at any of the below ULA's locations:
  • Denver, CO

Summary Salary Range:

CO: $23.10 - $37.95

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
