Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join our National Security Solutions team in El Segundo, CA. An active TS/SCI clearance is required.

You will design, test and implement secure operating systems, networks, and database products while addressing risk and security across the system lifecycle. The role involves applying technical expertise, working with cross-disciplinary teams, and interfacing with external entities as needed.

Qualifications

• 7–14 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
• Able to apply technical expertise and may have knowledge of related disciplines.
• Work is performed under limited direction.
• Exercising latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
• Completed work may be reviewed over the long term for desired results.
• No formal supervisory responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Design, test and implement secure operating systems, networks, and database products.
• Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for application design.
• Address security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access.
• Analyze across all levels of total system product lifecycle: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
• Use encryption technology, perform penetration and vulnerability analysis, and conduct IT security research.
• Contribute to design and development of new systems for external customer enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks.
• Ensure conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Integrate new architectural features, provide architectural analysis, embed forensic tools, and resolve integration/testing issues.
• May interface with external entities including law enforcement, and intelligence/government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deeply involved in the design, testing and implementation of state-of-the-­art secure operating systems, networks, and database products.

• Conducts risk assessment and provide recommendations for application design.

• Deeply involved in a wide range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access.

• Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

• Uses encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies, and information technology security research.

• Deeply involved in the design and development of new systems, applications, and solutions for external customer enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks.

• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

• Integrates new architectural features into existing infrastructures, designs cyber security architectural artifacts, provides architectural analysis and relates existing system to future needs and trends, embeds advanced forensic tools and techniques for attack reconstruction, provides engineering recommendations, and resolves integration/testing issues.

• May interface with external entities including law enforcement, and intelligence/government agencies.

Required Qualifications:

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Basic Compensation: $150 -185k

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
