Job summary

ASML Wilton Factory seeks an Optics Fabrication Technician to fabricate advanced optical components for photolithography machines. You will work on CNC milling, grinding and polishing, coating deposition, and precision assembly, following strict procedures and quality standards.

You will maintain a clean, safe work area, record time and materials, collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams, and pursue continuous improvement to enhance yield, accuracy, and cycle time.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate optical components with CNC milling, grinding, and polishing.
  • Operate deposition coating equipment and align assemblies precisely.
  • Measure and inspect optics using metrology tools and report findings.
  • Maintain 5S in work area and follow safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to improve processes.

Wilton Factory Optics Fabrication Technician

CWW Back End Days (6:00am-6:00pm Thursday- Saturday, every other Wednesday)

This position will be in Wilton, CT.

Job Mission

You will fabricate some of the world's most advanced optical components used in the most advanced semiconductor photolithography machines. Through your attention to detail, results orientation, and commitment to task, you will produce high precision quality optics per production schedule. You will maintain the safety and workplace organization of your processing area. You will value adherence to standards while applying your experience and perspective to contribute to continuous improvement in our processing methods. You will enjoy success generated through your individual desire to learn and through teamwork with your colleagues.

We are looking for individuals like you to work in one of our processing competencies. These include:

  • Machining glass materials into final configuration using CNC milling equipment;
  • Grinding and polishing surfaces of optical components to rigorous dimensional and surface quality specifications;
  • Loading material into and operating deposition chambers to coat optics;
  • Precisely aligning and assembling glass parts with a high degree of accuracy in order to produce high quality optical assemblies;
  • Measuring optical characteristics of components using advanced metrology equipment for in process material processing feedback and final quality inspection.
Job Description
  • Complying with safety requirements and participating in safety improvements within your work center.
  • Maintaining area, tooling, and equipment to 5S area standards.
  • Identifying and escalating any unsafe conditions.
  • Strictly adhering to processing standards and work instructions to obtain consistent quality results.
  • Actively monitoring optical processing equipment and responding as appropriate to ensure desired results.
  • Handling delicate optical components and visually identifying any abnormal characteristics.
  • Identifying and escalating any product or process quality concerns in a timely manner.
  • Performing assigned work content to support area and factory schedule execution.
  • Learning and applying skills to tackle progressively more challenging products.
  • Identifying and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in how your work is defined and performed, and more broadly within your area, to improve safety, quality, output, and cycle time.
  • Collaborating with production engineering and manufacturing management to improve operational efficiencies and effectivity.
  • Accurately recording time and attendance.
  • Transacting work activity in shop floor control system including documenting processing delays or quality issues.
  • Adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Learn to inspect and create map of glass surfaces showing all minute defects.
  • Learn to clean optical surfaces of all particles and contaminants.
Education

High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree in a vocational trade preferred.

Experience

Previous experience working in a manufacturing facility or completion of a vocational certification preferable. Use of some of the following: measuring equipment desirable: microscopes, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machine (CMM), interferometer. Data collection and record keeping. Transacting work activities in a shop floor control system. Participating in continuous improvement efforts (quality circles, kaizen events, etc). Work experience or active hobbies that translate to stated job responsibilities and desired personal skills.

Commitment to task and results orientation to complete scheduled activities and report status throughout your shift. Attention to detail to deliver quality results from your processing step, including visually inspecting your work to detect and report any abnormalities. Organization of information and materials. Ability to read and understand gages and other measuring devices. Ability to interpret mathematical and geometrical data. An example would be experience reading and interpreting topographical maps.
