Job summary

A leading provider of sustainable solutions in power distribution is seeking an Electric Power Technician in Washington, DC. Responsibilities include leading repairs and maintenance on electric power transmission lines, and ensuring safety standards are followed. Candidates must have a diploma in Electrical Power Distribution, a valid Wisconsin driver's license, and must be capable of working in all weather conditions. Qualifications

  • Must be a State Indentured Lineworker or equivalent training.
  • Must obtain first aid and CPR certificate.
  • Must have flexibility, reach and body height consistent with job responsibilities.
  • Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with heavy equipment operation/maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Lead repairs, maintenance, and installation of electric power transmission lines, distribution lines, transformers, and substation equipment.
  • Locating and repairing electrical malfunctions.
  • Patrols transmission and distribution lines as required.
  • Inspects substations as required.
  • Performs right‑of‑way maintenance: brush cutting, spraying and mowing.
  • Understands and follows all safety rules, practices and procedures. Sets positive example for all utility employees to work in compliance with accepted safety standards to foster a hazard‑free environment for employees and the public.
  • Other duties as assigned by Working Leader and/or Management.
  • Must obtain and retain a Commercial Driver's License within 60 days of acceptance and continue to possess a valid Commercial Driver's license as determined by DOT regulation.
  • Must be a State Indentured Lineworker or equivalent training.
  • Must obtain first aid and CPR certificate.
  • Must do considerable amount of bending, stooping, reaching, turning, and twisting.
  • Must climb and work in high places, e.g., transmission towers above 100 ft., wood power poles, basket trucks, etc.
  • Must use chain saw, rope blocks, hot line tools, and hand tools associated with this trade.
  • Must operate line truck, basket truck and other associated equipment.
  • Must work with voltages up to 115,000 volts, e.g., high voltage switch gear, transformers, and transmission lines.
  • Must read blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must reside within a reasonable vicinity of Wisconsin Rapids.
  • Expected to respond to call‑ins, work overtime and holidays as required.
