Job summary

Intertek is seeking a CWI Structural Steel, Welding, Bolting Inspector to join our Intertek-PSI team in Waukesha, WI. This role supports engineers with testing, observations and data reporting on construction projects.

The position requires 2–5+ years of welding or inspection experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license; preferred certifications include CWI with D1.1, ICC S1/S2, and MT/PT/UT/RT.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-5+ years of welding, QC, or inspection of structural steel experience is required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must pass pre-employment background and Motor Vehicle check.
• Must be punctual, dependable and able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Work from construction drawings, specifications, diagrams and ASTM standards.
• Complete required paperwork including daily and test reports in a timely manner.
• Record test results and perform calculations with graphical representations.
• Communicate with engineers, staff, contractors and owners in writing and verbally.
• Perform maintenance and calibration of equipment as needed.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
• Inspect construction operations.

The Structural Steel, Welding, Bolting Inspector is responsible for assisting engineers by performing a variety of testing, project specific observations and report data.

What you’ll do:

• Will work from construction drawings, specifications, diagrams, ASTM standards, schematics and specific verbal and written instructions.
• Neatly and accurately complete all required paperwork, including daily reports, test reports and timesheets – in a timely manner
• Record and reports test results after performing mathematical calculations, making graphical solutions and graphical representations
• Communicate orally and in writing with engineers and staff members, agency representatives, contractors and business and property owners
• Perform maintenance/cleaning of equipment and calibration and adjustments as needed
• Adhere to construction site safety guidelines and promotes a safe working environment
• Inspection of construction operations

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2-5+ years of welding, QC, or inspection of structural steel experience is required.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must successfully pass pre-employment background and Motor Vehicle check.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull, stretch, sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record (required)
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Reliable transportation to and from the office.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Must be professional in appearance and dress.
• Must be punctual and dependable.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• CWI certification with D1.1 experience
• ICC S1 Structural Bolting and S2 Structural Welding certifications are preferred
• Liquid Penetrant and Mag Particle experience is preferred
• UTSW experience is preferred
• MT, PT, UT and/or RT Certifications preferred.
