Capital Health is seeking a part-time CVOR Surgical Tech for perioperative support in the RMC area with varied shifts. The role includes assisting the surgeon, maintaining a sterile field, preparing the OR, and scrubbing in for procedures.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required; NJ-approved surgical tech program or LPN graduate with NJ license.
• Certification from nationally recognized surgical tech body preferred.
• Basic life support (AHA BLS) is required.

Responsabilidades

• Assist surgeon by passing instruments, retracting tissue, and handling sutures as directed.
• Maintain a sterile field and count instruments before, during, and after procedures.
• Prepare the OR with supplies according to the procedure and surgeon preference card.
• Scrub and assist with all procedures; collaborate with circulating nurse for patient care and room turnover.
• Ensure instrument tracking, case cart checks, and readiness of implants and supplies.

Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).**Pay Range:**$29.27 - $38.25**Scheduled Weekly Hours:**20**Position Overview**## **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*** Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, which includes passing instruments, sutures and other items appropriate to the procedure. Assists the surgeon by retracting tissue, holding instrumentation to provide exposure and cutting suture under the direct supervision of the surgeon.* Establishes and maintains an organized sterile field. Selects proper sterilization methods for instruments and equipment: sterilizes prior to procedure, and verifies instruments are sterile.* Adheres to policies and procedures in aseptic techniques. Takes corrective action when any unsafe practice, conditions or break in aseptic technique observed and reports information to the circulating nurse.* Assists with pulling cases and checks case cart for completeness, obtains supplies and equipment and determines them to be in good working order before a case begins.* Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments and sutures based on scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.* Follows policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up back table, draping and counting with the circulating nurse.* Performs scrub assistance for all procedures.* Assists the circulating nurse with implementing a plan of care to include positioning, confirmation of operative site, updating physician preference cards, care of specimens, and room turnover.* Accounts for instruments, trays, implants, before during and after the case. Begins Sterilizing process while in the surgical suite by counting for completeness of tray, initiating cleansing/sterilizing process.* Monitors and accesses supplies in medication storage areas including needles and syringes. ## **PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT**Frequent physical demands include: Standing, Walking, Carry objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, Reaching forward , Reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Talk or Hear Occasional physical demands include: Sitting , Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), Keyboard use/repetitive motion Continuous physical demands include: Lifting Floor to Waist 30 lbs. Sensory Requirements include: Accurate Near Vision, Accurate Far Vision, Color Discrimination, Moderate Depth Perception, Moderate Hearing Anticipated Occupational Exposure Risks Include the following: Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical, Airborne Communicable Disease, Radiation ## **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS****Education:** High school diploma or GED. Completion of a New Jersey approved or accredited program for surgical technicians or graduate of an LPN school with current LPN license. Certification from nationally recognized body for surgical technician preferred.**Experience:** No previous experience required. Previous experience in healthcare surgical services preferred.**Other Credentials:** AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period**Knowledge and Skills:** Specialty surgical services may require specific training, experience, knowledge, and skills.**Special Training:** Certification from Nationally recognized body for Surgical Technician preferred and encouraged. Completion of designated annual competencies.**Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:** Excellent attention to detail.
