Job summary

Atrium Health Pineville – Surgery Room is seeking a Full-time Surgical First Assistant to support first/second assisting duties in the operating room. You will maintain sterile technique, assist with exposure, hemostasis, and wound closure, and participate in robotic procedures as needed.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited surgical assisting program and a CSFA credential, with ongoing education to maintain credentials.

Qualifications

• CSFA credential required.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical assistance program required.
• Continuing education annually to maintain credentials as required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assists with first/second assisting duties in the OR.
• Maintains sterile field and prepares surgical field and supplies.
• Supports surge on a dry field and hemostasis.
• Assists with gowning, draping, instrument handling and wound closure.
• Performs scrub duties and maintains patient safety and confidentiality.
• Assists with robotic surgery when required.

Education

Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential

Graduation from an accredited surgical assistance program
