Job summary

Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK seeks a Certified First Surgical Assistant to join the Cardiovascular Operating Room team.

This full-time day-shift role requires call and possible night/weekend/holiday coverage, with a focus on patient positioning, visualization, hemostasis, and OR setup. You'll work under the surgeon's guidance, assist with draping, tissue handling, wound dressings, and room cleanup, while maintaining a safe, efficient operative environment and adhering to AHA

Qualifications

• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire.
• Certified First Surgical Assistant required.
• Education as stated: diploma equivalency or higher as described.

Responsibilities

• Position patient to optimize exposure for surgical procedures and ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Provide visualization of the operative site using appropriate methods and tissue handling.
• Use techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Assist with wound closure, dressings, and drainage systems.
• Assist in room cleanup and removal of soiled case cart and supplies after surgery.
• Prepare the surgical suite with instruments and supplies per surgeon's preferences.
