Job summary

Origin Travel Nurses seeks an experienced RN for Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) in Arlington, TX. The CVOR RN is a perioperative specialist supporting cardiac surgeons from prep to post‑op, maintaining sterility and patient safety.

Responsibilities include assisting with CABG and valve surgeries, managing cardiopulmonary bypass equipment, monitoring vitals, coordinating with anesthesiology and perfusion teams, and educating patients and families on recovery expectations.

Responsibilities

• Assist cardiac surgeons during procedures such as CABG, heart valve surgery, heart transplants, aneurysm repair, Maze surgery, pacemaker/ICD insertion, and other advanced cardiac operations.
• Maintain sterile field as circulating or scrub nurse, selecting and handling instruments, supplies, and ensuring infection control.
• Monitor patient vitals (heart rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) before, during, and after surgery, and respond to changes in patient status.
• Coordinate with the surgical team — including anesthesiologist, perfusionist, and surgical techs — to ensure smooth workflow and patient safety.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, draping, and surgical exposure as directed.
• Manage specialized cardiac equipment such as cardiopulmonary bypass systems, intra‑aortic balloon pumps, and hemodynamic monitors.
• Administer surgical medications and manage fluid balance under anesthesia provider direction.
• Educate patients/families on pre‑ and post‑operative care, safety measures, and recovery expectations.
• Document all procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
