Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a CVICU/CTICU RN for a 13-week assignment in Chesapeake, VA. The role demands 2+ years CVICU/CTICU experience, VA or compact RN license, and certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.

You’ll work with a universal bed model in a Cardio Thoracic ICU, with 1:1–2 patient care and 3x12 or 4x12 shifts. Epic EMR proficiency is required, along with experience in post-brain surgery care, invasive lines, and multi-system management.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CTICU experience required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Strong neuro experience including post brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy care
• Experience with arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with CABG, IABP, and Impella patients
• Experience with pre/post cardiac cath or intervention care
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
• Infection prevention and PPE use
• Surgical wound care including drains and wound vac management
• Two professional references required

Responsibilities

• Care for ICU and step-down patients in Cardio Thoracic ICU
• Maintain typical patient ratio 1:1–2
• Shift schedule 3x12 or 4x12 day shifts
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage including Christmas
• Overtime billed after 48 hours; block scheduling not available
• Provide direct patient care for cardiothoracic ICU and step-down patients
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
