Job summary

Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, NY seeks an Intensivist to join its state-of-the-art CVICU. You will manage a broad cardiovascular critical care population including post-op CT surgery, ECMO/MCS, and advanced heart failure, working with surgeons, cardiology and APPs.

You will lead rounds, develop individualized plans, perform bedside procedures, and mentor trainees in a high-acuity, collaborative environment with ongoing program development.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Residency in Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, or Emergency Medicine with Critical Care fellowship.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Critical Care Medicine.
• Active NY medical license (or eligible) and DEA registration, with ACLS/BLS.
• Eligibility for medical staff appointment and privileges at Good Samaritan University Hospital.
• Outstanding clinical acumen and strong commitment to team-based care.
• Preferred: experience in mixed CVICU/CTICU settings; echo/CCE interest.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, expert critical care across a mixed cardiovascular patient population including postoperative CT surgery, ECMO/MCS management, and advanced heart failure.
• Lead interprofessional rounds and formulate individualized treatment plans.
• Perform bed-side critical care procedures and manage hemodynamics with advanced monitoring.
• Direct clinical management during destabilization, cardiogenic shock, and transitions of care.
• Mentor APPs, fellows, residents, and nursing staff; engage patients and families in care discussions.
• Contribute to CVICU protocol development, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary committees.
