Job summary

NSG Group/Pilkington is seeking a motivated student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Chemistry to support R&D in CVD processes. You will work with technicians, engineers, and scientists to gain real-world experience in lab deposition and process optimization in a hands-on internship.

You will operate CVD lab equipment, handle hazardous materials safely, document results, and contribute to continuous improvements in lab safety and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student in Engineering or Chemistry pursuing a degree.
• Hands-on lab and technical skills for CVD processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in team environments.
• Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate complex CVD lab equipment and support lab processes.
• Prepare glass substrates for lab depositions.
• Safely handle chemicals according to SDS standards.
• Troubleshoot process problems and implement timely solutions.
• Improve safety in CVD lab operations and equipment.
• Develop and implement new CVD lab equipment SOPs.
• Operate small pilot-scale equipment in lab and manufacturing settings.
• Maintain accurate records per ISO9001:2000 standards.
• Communicate effectively with lab personnel.

Job description

Purpose: Seeking a highly motivated student currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical Engineering. In this position, you will work with a team of technicians, engineers, and scientists to support the R&D stages of Chemical Vapor Depositions. Our intern program focuses on real-world, hands-on experiences to help prepare you for your career.

Essential Functions:

• Operate complex CVD lab equipment
• Prepare glass substrates for lab depositions
• Safely handle chemicals according to SDS standards
• Troubleshoot process problems, implement solutions in timely manner
• Continuously explore ways to improve safety of all aspects of CVD lab operation
• Participate in development and implementation of new CVD lab equipment
• Operate small pilot scale equipment in laboratory and manufacturing plants
• Create and adhere to SOP’s developed for CVD lab equipment
• Communicate effectively with all lab personnel
• Maintain accurate and detailed records (e.g. laboratory notebook and documents) in accordance with ISO9001:2000 standards.

• Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications Desired:

• Experience in industrial laboratory environment
