Job summary

Fairview Health Services is searching for a Cardiovascular Electrophysiology (CV/EP) Technician to join their Cardiac Cath Lab team. This full-time position is located at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis and offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Must have 2 years of CVT and/or EP experience.
• Current CPR certification is required.

Job Overview

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Cardiovascular Electrophysiology (CV/EP) Technician to join our Cardiac Cath Lab team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center – East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. We’re offering a $5,000 sign‑on bonus!

The University of Minnesota Medical Center – East Bank is a leading academic heart center specializing in advanced catheter‑based and structural heart procedures, performed by a collaborative team of interventional cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, imaging specialists, and researchers. As a CV/EP Tech, you will support complex cardiac interventions within a high‑acuity environment and work closely with integrated cardiovascular units and advanced imaging services across the East Bank campus to care for patients with diverse heart and circulatory conditions. The technician will assist with these procedures while providing diagnostic testing, collecting and assessing data, performing the scrub role, and assisting the cardiologist.

Schedule

This is a full‑time position (1.0 FTE, 80 hours per two‑week pay period) with 10‑hour day shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The role includes rotating weekend call approximately every fourth weekend, with call beginning at 6:00 PM on Friday and ending at 7:30 AM on Monday. 30‑minute response time for call. Scheduling may vary based on staffing needs.

As a CV/EP Tech, You Will Be Responsible For

• Demonstrating the ability to safely and accurately operate equipment:
  • Operate monitor/recording equipment in all cardiac cath lab procedures.
  • Able to electrically and mechanically balance and calibrate pressure transducers and amplifiers in all rooms.
  • Troubleshoot and correct ECG tracing problems.
  • Operate tableside C‑arm controls.
  • Insure all POC testing equipment is maintained according to established standards.
  • Apply the three major principles of radiation safety at all times.
• Collecting, assessing, and maintaining patient data:
  • Enter patient demographics into both monitoring and x‑ray equipment.
  • Record all patient and monitor data on event log according to established guidelines.
  • Archive procedure to CD‑Rom.
  • Enter all data into computer system for accurate billing and patient procedure history.
  • Reduce all right and left heart data to basic form for physician interpretation and reporting.
  • Assess and document pulses distal to catheter insertion site pre‑ and post‑surgical.
  • Recognize rhythms and sudden hemodynamic changes.
• Assisting invasive cardiologist with all invasive coronary procedures:
  • Ability to scrub in all procedures in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab and EP.
  • Proficient in patient preparation and sterile tray set up.
  • Assist the cardiologist with required catheter and wire manipulation while maintaining the required sterile technique.
• Completing all other core EP duties:
  • Operate monitor/recorder and intracardiac simulator for EP studies.
  • Operate RF ablation equipment.
  • With use of computer, draw and calculate LV grams to include ejection fraction and stroke volume.
  • Monitor for EP studies/ablations, integrating use of EP mapping systems.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) (Upon hire, or within 3 months of orientation) or
