Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace is seeking a Cutter Grinder Technician to join our Whitesboro, NY facility. The role focuses on precision grinding, tool sharpening, and real‑time inspection to ensure cutting tools meet exact specs.

Strong problem‑solving and communication will be essential in a highly automated environment. You will operate ANCA grinders, laser marking, and Zoller inspection systems onsite, with potential weekend hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
• Working knowledge of machinability of metals with a good mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of shop geometry and trigonometry.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC/ANCA grinders and related equipment to sharpen tools to prescribed dimensions.
• Operate CNC preset equipment and perform tool regrind per specifications.
• Test and inspect tools to ensure conformity to original design.
• Perform tool setup, adjustments, and incidental tasks to support cutters.
• Support Cutter Grinder operations and assist colleagues as directed.
• Load Cutter Grind Machines and perform routine maintenance/cleanup.

About the Opportunity:

Our Technicians are skilled employees who perform various types of precision grinding utilizing machines and their related equipment and attachments to sharpen and form cutting tools, such as drills and milling cutters. The candidate will utilize practical skills and knowledge as a Cutter Grinder to analyze specifications, set up and operate the machine and regrind cutting tools.

The Cutter Grinder Technician follows the sequence and the required operations. The Cutter Grinder will test and inspect the tools and cutter grinder equipment to ensure that they are true to the original design and function properly. Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills will be necessary.

Location:

100% Onsite in Whitesboro, NY.

This is a full‑time role that may require some extended hours and weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate computer numerically controlled machines such as ANCA grinders, edge prep machine, laser marking machine & Zoller inspection machine to sharpen tools to prescribed dimensions and finishes
• Operate CNC preset equipment.
• Perform problem solving tasks in a highly automated and dynamic manufacturing environment
• Perform set‑ups and operations of various types of tools.
• Sharpen or modify tools, milling cutters, drills, reamers, etc. involving special contours, compound angles to required specifications
• Perform tests with completed tools to ensure that tools meet specifications and make adjustments as necessary
• Perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task
• Run Cutoff Machine as needed
• Laser Mark Cutting Tools

• Loading Cutter Grind Machines
• Supporting Cutter Grind Operators as directed
• Run Wheel Dresser Machine

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full‑time basis.
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of the machinability of metals, with a good mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge and ability to use machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments
• Knowledge of shop geometry and trigonometry
• Material Handling

Working Conditions

• Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
• Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of being forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift certified
• Must be able to climb ladder, work on platforms, and climb stairs
• Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
• Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
