Job summary

STS Aerospace is seeking an entry-level tubing fabrication associate to cut, form, deburr, clean, swage and polish metal tubing for hydraulic, pneumatic, and exhaust installations. You will read blueprints, set up saws and fixtures, and perform quality checks under supervision.

The role begins with 4 weeks of training on 1st shift, then performs essential duties with focus on safety, accuracy, and on-time production. Requires a HS diploma or GED and 1–3 months of related experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • 1–3 months related experience or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders.

Responsibilities

  • Performs visual and dimensional checks on materials.
  • Reads blueprints or job orders for product specifications and tooling instructions.
  • Selects, positions, and secures tubing in saw.
  • Moves controls to position tool and workpiece and sets feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
  • Sets up fixture or feeding device and feeds tool to workpiece.
  • Observes machine operation and verifies conformance to specifications.
  • Typically stands, walks, handles parts, and may lift 10–25 pounds.

This position will train on 1st shift for approximately 4 weeks.

Description/Summary

Under the general direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, this position involves the fabrication of metal tubing both rigid and flexible, for a multitude of operations, by cutting, grinding, forming, de-burring, cleaning, swaging, and polishing according to specifications, for use in hydraulic fuel, pneumatic, waste and exhaust installations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with reasonable accommodation when necessary.

  • Performs visual and dimensional checks on materials
  • Holds tape and rods and marks reference points
  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
  • Selects, positions, and secures tubing in saw
  • Moves controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
  • Sets up fixture or feeding device, starts machine, and feeds tool to workpiece or vice versa, and engages feed.
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined workpiece to specifications.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Consistently, regularly and predictably at work and on time
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed
