Job summary

Zekelman Industries, Atlas Tube division in Blytheville, AR, is seeking a Machine Operator to set up and run high-speed equipment for forming or cutting steel to spec. You will help ensure product quality, efficiency, and safe manufacturing practices in a fast-paced plant environment.

The role requires manufacturing experience, ability to read/write English, basic math, and familiarity with measurement tools.

Qualifications

• Must have manufacturing or industrial experience.
• Ability to read and write English and maintain production records.
• Ability to perform basic math including decimals and fractions.
• Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
• Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other site equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Commitment to health and safety practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Observe safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) rules while operating equipment.
• Perform advanced setup and calibration of production equipment.
• Inspect materials for quality before, during, and after production runs.
• Record and report quality deficiencies to supervision or quality department.
• Maintain tooling and equipment required for job completion.
• Diagnose equipment and quality issues to minimize scrap and downtime.
• Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
• Assist maintenance with repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Role

As a Machine Operator at Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, Blytheville, AR, you will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality, operational efficiency, and safe manufacturing practices in a fast-paced production environment.

What You’ll Do

• Observe all safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
• Perform advanced setup and calibration of production equipment.
• Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production runs.
• Record and report quality deficiencies to supervision or the quality department.
• Maintain tooling and equipment required for job completion.
• Diagnose equipment and quality issues while minimizing scrap and downtime.
• Perform housekeeping tasks to keep work areas clean and safe.
• Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
• Assist maintenance with repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

• Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
• Ability to read and write English and maintain production records and logs.
• Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
• Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
• Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other equipment necessary for job completion.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
• Commitment to leading and promoting health and safety work practices.
• Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.

Physical Abilities

• Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles for extended periods without fatigue.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours as required.
• Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to stand for 10–12 hours per shift.
• Ability to perform work in a plant or manufacturing environment.
