Job summary

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in customs brokerage, knowledge of HTS, Incoterms, and proficiency with CargoWise, ACE, and ABI. A US broker license or CCS is a plus; work authorization is required.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of customs brokerage or import operations experience.
  • CCS certification or U.S. Customs Broker License a plus.
  • Proficiency with brokerage systems (CargoWise, ACE, ABI).
  • Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, valuation, Incoterms, and PGA requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English.

  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Stay current on trade agreements, regulation changes, and customs procedural updates.
  • Communicate with clients to obtain import data and advise on classifications, restrictions, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with carriers, forwarders, CBP officers, and PGAs to resolve holds, exams, and documentation issues.
  • Handle post entry tasks such as corrections, PSC’s, protests, and refunds where applicable
  • Support internal audits

The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for preparing, submitting, and maintaining import documentation to ensure goods are accurately and efficiently cleared through U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs).

The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for preparing, submitting, and maintaining import documentation to ensure goods are accurately and efficiently cleared through U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs).The role requires strong compliance knowledge, attention to detail, and effective coordination across clients, carriers, freight forwarders, and government entities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Prepare and process customs entries and inbound transactions in accordance with customs laws, regulations, and procedures.

Accurately classify goods using the HTS tariff system and determine required duties, taxes, and fees.

Submit and monitor customs entries via ABI/ACE in compliance with CBP and PGA requirements.

Calculate duties, arrange payments, and monitor ACH or duty billing statements.

Review invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and supporting import documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

High school diploma or GED required; degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, or Business preferred

1–3 years of customs brokerage or import operations experience

CCS certification or U.S. Customs Broker License a plus

Proficiency with brokerage systems (CargoWise, ACE, ABI)

Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, valuation, Incoterms, and PGA requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Owning, logging & ensuring all daily customer services contacts & queries received via telephone & email are worked through to resolution per strict SLA’s.
  • Strong focus on communication and ensuring that any systems/operational issues impacting customer shipments are proactively reported to the relevant syncreon & customer teams and tracked through to resolution.
  • Compiling, reviewing and actioning reporting suites for our key account customer and syncreon business per KPI requirements.
  • Actioning customer complaints received ensuring that detailed and accurate root cause/corrective actions are implemented, formally documented and submitted to the customer.
  • Carrier management including tracking open customer orders through to delivery/return/claim and actioning exceptions as they arise.
  • Carrier performance reporting against agreed KPI’s and actioning trends for root cause & corrective actions.
  • Participating in weekly carrier & customer task meetings along with monthly reviews & QBR’s.
  • Self-billing including compiling and managing all billing activities for all carrier and customer transactions.
  • Providing daily/weekly/monthly reporting suite from the syncreon TMS system per required customer & carrier customised reporting requirements.
  • Participating in syncreon control tower / customer projects.
  • Being the voice of the customer.

Your Key Qualifications

  • Fluency in oral & written English is essential.
  • 2 years’ work experience in a high tech customer services and logistics’ environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft office suite, with proven reporting & presentation skills.
  • Responsiveness in dealing with Customer requests.
  • Attention to detail for billing, process analysis, customer complaints investigations & reporting activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and assist other team members during peak volume periods
  • Experience in carrier network management.
