Haddad Apparel Group, LTD in Dayton, NJ is seeking an experienced Customs Broker to support import clearance and regulatory compliance for children’s apparel and accessories. You will work with logistics, sourcing, and CBP to ensure timely entry processing and minimize delays.

The role requires a U.S. Customs Broker license and 5+ years in apparel/textiles; strong knowledge of ACE/ABI, HTSUS classification, UFLPA, and C-TPAT is essential.

Qualifications

  • Valid U.S. Customs Broker License.
  • 5+ years of experience in import customs brokerage, with a strong focus on apparel, textiles, and accessories.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. import regulations, apparel classification, and textile requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of ACE, ABI, and customs brokerage/import compliance systems.
  • Working knowledge of country-of-origin rules, labeling, and textile quotas.
  • Experience handling compliance with UFLPA and forced labor laws preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or compliance tools such as Cargowise is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage customs brokerage activities for Haddad's apparel imports, working with internal teams and external service providers.
  • Partner with external customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other service providers to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant entry processing.
  • Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on customs and trade compliance, advising Logistics, Sourcing, Production, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customs processes, controls, data accuracy, and operational efficiency while reducing compliance risk and duty exposure.
  • Provide guidance on customs valuation, including assists, related-party transactions, First Sale considerations, and other valuation matters.
  • Prepare, review, and file all import documentation, including ISF, entry summaries, and customs declarations via ACE.
  • Ensure proper classification of imported merchandise (children's garments, accessories, adult apparel, etc.) under HTSUS.
  • Monitor and apply textile-specific regulations, including quota, visa, and labeling requirements.
  • Coordinate with CBP, FDA, and other regulatory agencies to resolve holds, exams, and compliance issues.
  • Maintain and audit import documentation in compliance with 19 CFR regulations and company policies.
  • Track inbound shipments and proactively manage exceptions, delays, and penalties.
  • Advise internal logistics and sourcing teams on duty-saving opportunities (e.g., First Sale, FTA eligibility).
  • Ensure compliance with UFLPA and other garment industry restrictions.
  • Support trade compliance programs such as C-TPAT and conduct internal training and audits.

Haddad Apparel Group, LTD is a leading children's apparel licensee and distributor for some of the world’s most recognized brands. We manage the design, sourcing, and distribution of high-quality branded children's apparel across global markets. As an import-driven business, we are continuing to strengthen our logistics and compliance capabilities and are looking to add an experienced Customs Broker to our team. This individual will work closely with our existing logistics, sourcing, and compliance teams to support import customs clearance, ensure regulatory compliance, and help drive greater efficiency across our import operations.

Position Summary:

As a Customs Broker on our team, you will play an important role in ensuring the timely and compliant importation of children's apparel and accessories. We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong customs brokerage experience, ideally within the apparel or textile industry. You will partner closely with internal teams, freight forwarders, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and other regulatory agencies to support seamless entry processing, resolve compliance matters, and minimize potential delays and risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and manage customs brokerage activities for Haddad's apparel imports, working in partnership with internal teams and external service providers.
  • Partner with and provide oversight of external customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other service providers to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant entry processing.
