Job summary

Lam Research in Fremont, CA is seeking a Customer Technology Manager to advance our Aether Engineering initiatives. You will lead process development, customer demonstrations, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative semiconductor solutions.

The role requires deep expertise in materials science or related fields, multiple decades of experience, and a proven ability to work with customers and teams in a hybrid on-site work model.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MS with years of experience in semiconductor process engineering or related field.
• Strong background in materials science, chemistry or physics and laboratory work.
• Experience supporting customer demos and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional process engineering research, development and evaluation for complex semiconductor equipment.
• Review processing techniques from pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing.
• Define projects and evaluate data to set process specifications and limits.
• Support customer demos, data collection and analysis to defend process applications.
• Drive adoption of new technology at customer sites with demos and evaluations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align roadmaps and requirements.
• Lead small projects and mentor colleagues as needed.

As a Customer Technology Manager, you will contribute to the growth of the Aether Engineering team.

What you’ll do

Technical

• Responsible for performing professional process engineering research, development, and evaluation in support of the company’s complex semiconductor capital equipment and systems.
• Reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication and evaluation of products. Involvement may begin at any step from pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing.
• Conceives and plans projects involving definition and selection of new concepts and approaches in the processing or development of new processes.
• Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
• Supports customer technology managers in the planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting of customer demos to defend existing processapplications.
• Drives the adoption of new technology at the customer site. Works closely with customer to demonstrate and introduce new technologies at customer sites through demos, on site evaluations, and new tool qualifications.
• Works with customer and senior engineers cross functionally to understand roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements and business issues/ challenges.
• Works with suppliers to make sure required parts and supplies are available
• Contributes to product development and release activities.
• May act as CTM-single point of contact accountable for process related requests.

• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
• Works with cross-functional teams to get information and results needed.

Customer Relations

• Professionally represents the company to the customer. Utilize knowledge of company’s product lines and services to keep existing/ potential customers informed when new/ additional needs are identified.
• Actively addresses any potential issues at the customer site and provide alternative solutions. Drive implementation of new solutions for the customer.

Who we’re looking for

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics with 5 years of relevant work; or
• M.S. with 8+ years of relevant work experience; or
• B.S. with 12+ years of work experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with working in a chemical laboratory.
• Experience in surface preparation and analytical techniques.
• In-dept understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines.
• Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $125,000.00 - $270,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
