Job summary

CSL in Town of Greece, NY is seeking a donor pheresis support technician to prepare the autopheresis machine, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process. You will report to the Assistant Center Manager and ensure proper setup and safety.

You will monitor the donor and process, respond to alarms, disconnect the donor when finished and record incidents on a PDA. The role includes data entry, safety adherence, and possible bilingual duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment.
• Will perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responds to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to any donor reactions during or after the pheresis process and notify staff.
• Record incidents with a PDA, such as machine alerts, alarms, and donor events.
• Link equipment and supplies used in the pheresis process to the donor in the system.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information system as SOPs require.
• Understand policies of hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow HSE/OSHA policies; promote safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas.
• Bilingual skills may be required at the organization’s discretion.

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

• Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responds to specific alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
• Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Use PDA to link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor.
• Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintain clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promotes safety in all actions.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
• Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
• Perform job-related duties as assigned.

• Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and to blood borne pathogens
• Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas
• Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.61/hour - $18.13/hour. Please note this wage range reflects what CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
