Job description

Overview

The Cashier provides excellent customer service by efficiently and accurately processing customer transactions at the checkout lane. This individual creates a pleasant and friendly atmosphere, treating each customer and associate like family.

Pay for this position starts at $15.00 - $20.60 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be passionate about people and committed to customer service excellence!
  • Must be able to work as a team member and interact positively with customers.
  • Must possess a high standard of integrity and reliability.
  • Successful completion of e-learnings and department training programs.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to work a schedule based on the business needs of the store location.
  • Authorized to work within the U.S.
Responsibilities

The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the company.

  1. Promote the company image as a service-oriented operation, greeting, assisting, rendering efficient service, and thanking customers in a prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
  2. Commit to the “Golden Rule” and collaborate with management and fellow associates to build a strong customer service team.
  3. Record all items at correct prices in their correct departments quickly and efficiently, utilizing all techniques specified in training.
  4. Verify identification for beer and wine purchases (where applicable).
  5. Follow company cash handling procedures and maintain acceptable over/short records.
  6. Participate in bagging customers’ orders properly, and check the register for products before the customer leaves to ensure nothing is left behind.
  7. Notify the customer service manager or assistant of any problems, inquiries, or complaints, including incorrect prices, poorly marked merchandise, errors with UPC codes, change needs, security issues, shrink problems, or other unusual situations.
  8. Actively participate in controlling shrink by checking carriage bottoms, accurate ringing, shoplifting awareness, and theft prevention.
  9. Keep sales area and equipment clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.
  10. Ensure standards of cleanliness, safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity are maintained.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Secondary functions include assisting as Service Clerk, Self-Checkout Assistant, or Head Cashier based on business needs, returning shopping carts, and training new associates.
