Job summary

Laundry Capital in New Haven, CT is seeking a part-time Customer Service Associate to deliver friendly, in-store support. You will assist customers with laundry card use, machine selection, and retail purchases while keeping the store clean and safe.

This in-person role reports to the Store Manager, offers a $17.00/hour wage, and opportunities to grow into lead or management positions as the company expands.

Responsibilities

• Assisting customers with laundry card use, machine selection and operation, retail purchases, and addressing questions or concerns
• Accurately operating the register or point-of-sale system
• Maintaining knowledge of products and encouraging additional purchases
• Ensuring retail items are stocked and reporting inventory issues to management
• Following safety practices and communicating any unsafe conditions to a supervisor
• Providing friendly service to customers and maintaining a clean, safe store environment

Job Summary

Customer Service Associates (CSAs) report to a Store Manager and are responsible for the daily duties involved in maintaining high levels of customer service through offering a clean, safe, and friendly store.

Essential Job Functions

• Assisting customers with laundry card use, machine selection and operation, retail purchases, and wash-and-fold orders, and addressing any other questions or concerns
• Accurately operating the register or point-of-sale system
• Maintaining thorough knowledge of products sold and their uses, and encouraging customers to purchase additional items
• Ensuring retail items are neatly stocked at all times and communicating promptly with management when inventory or janitorial supplies run low
• Using log books to report building or equipment maintenance issues, and immediately informing a supervisor of any unsafe situations during a shift
• Accurately and consistently using log books; selecting the right equipment for the amount of laundry; resolving customer concerns to the best of their ability; informing a supervisor of any customer complaints or claims
• Adhering to all company policies and procedures, including attendance and uniform standards
• Following all safety practices to prevent accidents and injuries to customers and employees
• Understanding responsibilities during emergency situations such as fires, floods, and severe weather
• Maintaining a safe environment inside and outside the store
• Continually walking the floor to pick up debris, empty trash containers, check restrooms, and perform other cleaning duties as needed

Job Requirements

• Must be able to stand for up to 8+ hours per shift
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
• Must be able to communicate with all customers and associates in a professional manner
• Must work well with others and remain calm in stressful situations
• Previous customer service or retail experience preferred
• Ability to resolve customer issues and complaints in a timely, professional manner
• Ability to perform tasks as assigned by management
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overnight hours
