Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; Six Sigma Green Belt a plus.
  • 5+ years in process quality, quality assurance, or operations management.
  • Experience with ISO 9001/9100 or IATF 16949 is ideal.
  • LEAN and 5S methods; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality systems to drive sustainable results.
  • Apply advanced measurement tools and analyze results to identify root causes.
  • Create and review qualification plans for product transfers and changes.
  • Provide training on measurement equipment and quality methods to staff.
  • Audit processes for conformance to standards and drive corrective actions.
  • Monitor KPI data and report findings regularly.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: MANUFACTURING QUALITY ENGINEER (MQE)

Summary/Objective: The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for improving the engineering, manufacturing, and quality of products. The primary focus is to address complex issues that affect product quality and/or customer satisfaction by developing and implementing systems and process changes required for improving overall quality performance and sustainable results.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  1. Initiate projects related to product, process, quality systems, or yield improvement based on internal and external quality indicators.
  2. Develop and implement systems that improve quality and ensure sustainable results, therefore driving continuous improvement.
  3. Use advanced measurement tools, techniques, and test equipment and be able to understand and analyze results.
  4. Create and review qualification plans for inner company product transfers (Process Review, Test Plan Development, PCN, etc.)
  5. Serve as a training resource for above mentioned measurement and test equipment, ensuring respective personnel understand their operation.
  6. Provide guidance and training to Manufacturing Quality Support personnel in the respective area.
  7. Monitor and report daily/weekly/monthly KPI’s via meetings, email, and End of Month reports.
  8. Analyze data required to understand a problem and develop solutions. This includes, but is not limited to: quality data, manufacturing process data, dimensional data, engineering data, training records, audit results, etc.
  9. Investigate and appropriately document quality problems using root cause analysis methods and identify robust corrective actions.
  10. Create and maintain all relevant Work Instructions, SOP’s, Training Documents, and Workmanship Standards
  11. Use quality tools such as failure analysis, root cause analysis, DOE, PFMEA, SPC, and others, to identify the source of a problem, correct the problem, and prevent future occurrences on same or similar products.
  12. Identify and coordinate containment of any nonconforming materials
  13. Audit manufacturing processes for compliance to quality, manufacturing, and engineering standards. Work with the relevant parties to develop plans to address non-conforming audit results.

Required Experience:

  1. 5 Years’ experience in Process Engineering, Quality Assurance Engineer, or Operations Management is required.
  2. Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 9100, or IATF 16949 Quality systems is ideal.
  3. Must be familiar with Manufacturing techniques such as LEAN & 5S
  4. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously as priorities can change very quickly.
  5. Connector experience is desired but not required.
  6. Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  7. Must be able to sit for more than 90 consecutive minutes.
  8. Experience with ISO/TS or Automotive Quality systems highly desired.
  9. Six Sigma or Problem-Solving background desired.

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, other) preferred. If no experience, degree is required.
  2. Six Sigma background is desired (Green Belt, Yellow Belt, Black Belt).

  1. On the job training as appropriate.
