Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store associate to be the frontline point of contact for customers, assist in maintaining plan-o-grams, stock merchandise, and help maximize profitability and teamwork while protecting company assets.

Duties include unloading trucks, receiving and shelving merchandise, building displays, stocking shelves, assisting customers, operating the cash register, processing payments, and bagging purchases.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and move merchandise to stock areas or sales floor.
• Receive, open, unpack cartons and totes, then stock shelves.
• Build and rotate merchandise displays, face merchandise.
• Restock recovered merchandise and assist customers.
• Operate the cash register, handle payments, and bag purchases.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners as needed.
• Greet customers and help locate items.
• Keep store clean, including floors, restrooms, and stockroom.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
