Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Checker/Stocker to join our General department. You will greet customers, operate the register, and help stock shelves while keeping the store clean and organized. The role emphasizes friendly service, accuracy in transactions, and compliance with store policies.

Responsibilities include bagging groceries, handling multiple payment types, and supporting drive-up and carry-out services. We value reliability, teamwork, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• No education or experience required; Hy-Vee will provide all training to succeed.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.
• Willingness to learn and help customers in a fast-paced store.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service at the register and assist customers.
• Operate cash register and process payments (cash, checks, cards, coupons, WIC, etc.).
• Handle transactions, issue receipts, and manage refunds or credits as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines for tobacco, alcohol, WIC, etc.
• Bag groceries, assist with drive-up and carry-out service, and stock shelves.
• Unload product, rotate stock, and maintain merchandise presentation.
• Keep register area clean and stocked; report cash levels and balance at shifts' start and end.
