Job summary

Kroger in Medford, OR is seeking a Cashier/Checker to deliver outstanding customer service. You will greet customers, process transactions at the checkout, and follow store policies while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include operating the POS, handling various payment methods, adhering to safety and loss-prevention guidelines, and helping customers with questions about products and promotions. Prior cashier experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum Position Qualifications: Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers at the check lane and provide a welcoming environment.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons) per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits, prevent loss, and follow security guidelines.
• Comply with guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies and follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions; follow food safety regulations and safety programs.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify store management; inspect equipment and request repairs as needed.
• Provide product information and answer customer questions to create a welcoming store environment.
• Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines; work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
• Collaborate with team to resolve customer issues professionally.
• Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
