Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Officer to provide professional, customer-focused security and life safety services. You will maintain a visible security presence, greet visitors, monitor alarms, and respond to incidents in a manner consistent with company policy.

Ideal candidates hold mandated licenses, a high school diploma or GED, and have reliable transportation. Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience is helpful, and strong communication and reporting

Qualifications

• Security officer licenses as required by state or municipality
• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required
• Must have or obtain a security guard license within an acceptable period
• Reliable means of communication and transportation
• Strong interpersonal communication and a neat, professional appearance
• Ability to write routine correspondence including logs and incident reports
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience is helpful

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional demeanor while aiding customers, employees, visitors and guests
• Maintain a visible security presence in the assigned facility
• Monitor environment to detect suspicious or unsafe activity
• Familiarize with incoming/outgoing traffic, know customers, tenants and guests
• Greet people professionally at all times
• Answer phones professionally
• Permit authorized persons to enter and monitor entrances/exits
• Enforce facility policies and procedures within role limits
• Conduct patrols on foot or by vehicle as required
• Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure proper removal of property
• Follow emergency action plans and procedures
• Monitor alarms and systems
• Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
