Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Informs customers of food specials and recommends grocery items to ensure customers get what they want.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable groceries that they ordered.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Knowledge of products and respond to questions, making product suggestions.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
