Job summary

Requirements

The Customer Banking Specialist (CBS) position consists of extensive customer contact in conducting primary banking transactions for personal and business customers. A CBS is responsible for greeting customers, answering the telephones, and processing banking transactions for the customer including deposits, withdrawals, balance inquiries, wire transfers, Cashier Check purchases, change orders, and any other transactions not requiring supervisor status.

We need you to:
  • Provide exceptional “hometown” customer service
  • Handle multiple customers and queries at once and resolve issues as and when they arise.
  • Fulfill Teller duties and demonstrate high attention to detail.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer.
  • Retain large amounts of information and put into practice.
  • Learn and utilize multiple information processing systems.
  • Follow and abide by all company policies and federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily Procedures:
  • Maintain an accurate and orderly cash drawer while processing customer transactions.
  • Maintain a clean work environment. Station is to be cleared each evening with computer logged off and cash drawer properly stowed. Customer information is to be hidden at all times when away from station and computer is to be logged off for security.
  • Complete all work—properly encoded and including any required Officer signatures or initials—and place in the work bin daily by end of day, according to Bank branch procedures.
  • Balance cash drawer daily by end of day and change over to next day’s business.
  • Balance and turnover TCR, Vault, and Coin machine on a rotating basis.
  • Maintain an organized and accurate cash drawer. Keep money faced and bundled accurately.
  • Process checking and savings deposits and withdrawals. Acquire the appropriate signatures and forms and provide customer with receipt and correct cash.
  • Cash checks for customers and non-customers (if check is in acceptable format). Acquire appropriate identification and provide accurate cash.
  • Assist customers with purchases of Cashier’s Checks. Require acceptable form of payment and provide customer with correct items in return. Maintain an accurate log.
  • Prepare change orders for business customers and ensure accuracy.
  • Process night drop deposits and courier bags under dual control; maintain an accurate log.
  • Accept safe deposit box and loan payments. Provide the customer with a receipt and forward the payments to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain acceptable levels of working cash in teller drawer and recycler. This is accomplished by buying and selling cash through the main vault. Proper documentation must be filled out and accurately maintained and recorded.
  • Cash in change for customers using appropriate change counting equipment and procedures.
  • Complete compliance coursework selected for Customer Banking Specialists by Compliance Department on time twice per year.
  • BSA Responsibilities: Compliance with State and Federal Law and internal bank policy and procedures encompassing the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and the USA PATRIOT Act, including accurate completion of Currency Transaction Reports, Monetary Instrument Logs and detecting and reporting suspicious activities to the BSA Officer.
Customer Service:
  • Greet and acknowledge all customers in person in the Lobby and drive-through, using their name if known. Direct Lobby customers to the proper department and announce customers to Officers.
  • Assist customers in processing teller line transactions in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Answer telephone calls after two rings, servicing the customer if possible or transferring the call to the appropriate department. When answering the telephone speak with a smile and identify the Bank and yourself. Account Maintenance and Support
  • Process wire transfer requests by obtaining information and completing initial wire transfer form, entering wire transfer information onto the BIDS system, and giving the form (and supporting documentation) to Accounting department for review and approval.
  • Assist customers with other service functions such as closing their accounts, research, copies of statements and/or imaged checks, check ordering, stop payments, and inter-bank transfers.
  • Have a working knowledge of bank procedures and types of accounts offered to answer customers’ basic banking questions.
  • Process changes to customer’s contact information such as, address, phone number, and email.
Online Banking Support:
  • Have a working knowledge of internet banking products to assist customers with any basic questions.
  • Assist customers in trouble shooting online banking issues such as, resetting passwords and security questions, removing lockouts, and mobile deposits.
  • Assist customers with Zelle issues such as, releasing holds, changing limits, and troubleshooting transactions.
  • Assist customers with Bill Pay.
ATM and Visa Debit Cards:
  • Assist customers in properly completing Debit Card dispute forms.
  • Order/print ATM and Debit Cards when requested.
  • Assist customers in trouble shooting Debit Card issues.
  • Assist customers in setting limits and travel exemptions.
