Job description

Production Team | Peoria, IL | Full-Time | First Shift

Pay: $28 – $30 per hour

Good pay. Great benefits. Big impact. All with a schedule that works around your life. All first shift, flexible start and end times, and the option to frontload your hours. If you take pride in high end craftsmanship and want a shop that respects your time and your craft, keep reading.

We are a small manufacturer, about 100 people, that designs and builds custom, automated powder handling equipment used to make life‑saving drugs around the world. Almost everything is designed and built in‑house, with stainless steel or Hastelloy, to a very high standard. Turnover here is low. People come and they stay, because we work together, reward good work, and lean on each other’s strengths.

We’re looking for an experienced TIG welder to join our Production Team. You’ll work from fabrication prints to lay out, weld, form, and polish custom equipment from start to finish. This isn’t a production line running the same part all day — every project is different, and quality craftsmanship is the whole job.

What You’ll Do
  • Review, interpret, and work from the fabrication prints for each project
  • Fabricate and assemble projects to print using GTAW (TIG) welding of stainless steel and other alloys
  • Perform basic metal forming and machining using shop equipment
  • Handle materials prep and finish work: random orbital sanding, unidirectional polishing, and high‑detail polishing
  • Check the parts supplied for a system against the general assembly drawing to confirm accuracy before assembly
  • Assemble systems per the engineering specifications
  • Work with the rest of the Production Team to get projects across the finish line
  • Attend production meetings, including quoting and fabrication release meetings
  • Speak up — give feedback on projects, weldments, and equipment so we keep getting better
  • Take on other tasks as assigned by your supervisor

One thing to know up front: quality work, done on time, is what this job is measured on. Quality and efficiency carry the most weight in employee evaluations.

What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Someone who matches Rheo’s values of Bold Humility, Reliability, Initiative, Competence, and Collaboration
  • 3+ years of TIG welding experience with stainless steel
  • Knowledge of best practices and safety with welding tools and shop equipment
  • High attention to detail and pride in quality craftsmanship
  • Extreme ownership — you see a project through from start to finish, no matter the obstacle
  • Self‑starter — you see what needs to be done and don’t wait around for someone else to do it
  • A team player who gets ideas and instructions across clearly and respectfully
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a welding‑related apprenticeship or technical program
  • Familiarity with ERP software (Epicor Kinetic preferred)
Why Rheo
  • Steady work in a stable industry — the equipment you build helps make life‑saving medicine, and that work doesn’t dry up
  • All first shift, with flexible start and end times and the option to frontload your hours (like four 10s)
  • A small shop where you’re a name, not a number — 100 people, low turnover, and a team that has your back
  • Real variety — custom work, not the same part over and over
  • Leading medical insurance — consistently low rates compared to other businesses in the area
  • Health Savings Account with employer contributions (plan‑dependent)
  • Dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Short‑term and long‑term disability
  • Identity theft insurance
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Generous PTO
  • Paid paternity and maternity leave
  • Paid cell phone plan with stipend for a new phone every 2 years
  • Employee referral program
Working Conditions

This is a shop‑floor position. You must be able to bend/stoop, climb stairs and ladders, squat, kneel, push/pull, lift up to 50 lbs, and use vibratory and other basic tools. Standard 8-hour workday, all first shift, with flexible start and end times and the option to frontload hours. Overtime as requested by your supervisor.
