Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Be at least 18 years of age at time of application.
• Be a US citizen (U.S. born or naturalized).
• Must possess or be able to obtain State Corrections Officer Certification and FDLE CJSTC Certification as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains care, custody, and control over all detainees and prisoners; ensure safety and security of detainees, the public, and staff.
• Receives incoming prisoners; conducts searches to detect weapons and contraband; coordinates prisoner placement and cell assignment.
• Maintains accurate counts of detainees; maintains records; updates prisoner information in the system.
• Secures detention facility keys; follows instructions from supervisors and staff; operates agency vehicle for transport of detainees.
• Maintains awareness of surroundings to preserve life and property; may assist in events, incidents, or emergencies.
