Job summary

Provo City is seeking part-time custodians to clean and maintain the Provo Recreation Center. The positions offer weekend and weekday shifts, with pay ranging from $12.00 to $18.00 per hour. Part-time employees may participate in retirement savings plans (401k, 457, Roth IRA, Traditional IRA) through the City.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in general custodial, building and grounds maintenance OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
• A valid, lawful Driver License is required.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and sanitize City buildings, offices, restrooms, grounds, fixtures, and other designated areas.
• Sweep, mop, seal, wax, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Wash walls, woodwork, windows, doors, desks, ceilings, and other surface areas.
• Collect and dispose of waste including emptying garbage containers and replacing liners.
• Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs including unstopping lavatories, replacing fluorescent tubes and ballasts, and similar assignments.
• Perform general building maintenance including replacing windows, patching holes, replacing tiles, fixing door jambs and similar projects.
• Maintain general cleaning equipment including changing filters.
• Ensure work is completed with minimal disturbance for building occupants.
• Maintain building security by ensuring doors and windows are locked and secured.
• Post announcements.
• Perform other related work as required.

These positions are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Provo Rereation Center for the enjoyment of Provo residents. What do I need to apply?

• Two years of experience in general custodial, building, and grounds maintenance OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that would demonstrate an ability to perform the work [substituting each one year of post-secondary education/training for six months of experience].
• A valid, lawful Driver License is required.

What is the selection process?

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on April 14, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
