JOB TITLE: Custodian

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
To provide staff and students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work and learn.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The custodian should demonstrate the ability to perform the tasks listed. Must complete assigned tasks in accordance with established time and quality control guidelines.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to reach, climb, bend, stand, and walk. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders, as well as to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk and hear. The employee must normally lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 100 pounds. The employees will frequently push or pull items such as desks, tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines. The employee should have good color vision, hearing, and speech capabilities.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The employee will occasionally work in conditions of extreme heat or cold.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment will be on an at-will basis for 12 months with two weeks vacation, beginning July 1, or from the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated vacation and/or personal leave. Each custodian will be provided a work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employee. The work calendar may
modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate. Eight and one-half hours (including a 30-minute non-paid lunch period) will constitute a workday. The Chief Human
Resources Officer will establish a definite daily schedule. The yearly salary will be disbursed in twenty-four (24) equal payments.
EVALUATION
End-of-the-year performance evaluations will occur annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
