Job summary

Rapides Parish School District in Alexandria, LA is seeking a full-time Custodian to maintain and clean school facilities, grounds, and equipment. Duties include routine maintenance, safety compliance, and materials management, with a starting annual salary on a structured schedule.

The position reports to the Building Evaluator or custodial supervisor and requires adherence to district policies, attendance at in-service trainings, and teamwork with staff across the district.

Qualifications

• Skilled in maintenance of district facilities, equipment and grounds.
• Caring for building interiors and exteriors, with cleaning and minor repairs.
• Ability to follow schedules and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance activities of building facilities, equipment and grounds as directed by head custodian, building evaluator, or custodial supervisor.
• Follow state, school board and school policies relative to safety and security of buildings, equipment and supplies.
• Maintain and/or prepare equipment and supplies as necessary for various tasks.
• Report safety hazards to custodial supervisor or building evaluator.
• Submit requests for janitorial materials, supplies, equipment as needed.
• Work cooperatively with other custodial staff, head custodian, building evaluator, custodial supervisor, and other school district personnel.
• Adhere to schedule for routine and special tasks as approved by the building evaluator and head custodian.
• Attend in-service training as required by the custodial supervisor and/or building evaluator.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the custodial supervisor and/or building evaluator.
• Follow federal, state, and Rapides Parish School District policies.
