Position Summary
Under the direction of the Superintendent, Physical Plant, the Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and orderliness inside and outside assigned areas, and for waste removal. Regular work is 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, trash receptacles, and mop restroom floors.
- Clean surfaces: mirrors, handrails, floors, walls, windows, file cabinets, blinds, shelves, tables, chairs, dry‑erase boards, ceilings, diffusers, and air ducts.
- Vacuum, empty trash cans, and replace liners.
- Secure areas by locking doors and turning off lights before leaving.
- Assist with room set‑ups, transporting tables and chairs, installing floor coverings, and setting up stage, podium, and sporting equipment.
- Maintain safety by using chemicals responsibly, displaying wet‑floor signs, and ensuring emergency eye‑wash stations are operational.
Essential Functions
- Work safely with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Operate floor‑cleaning equipment, including high‑suction machines, and apply finishes to concrete and tile floors.
- Maintain chemical safety, including labeling and spill response.
- Work flexible hours and locations as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum one year of custodial work experience.
Desired Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED.
- AAS degree in a related technical area.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: $15.32 per hour.
Part‑time regular employees are eligible for the TIAA retirement plan through a Roth, SRA, or 457(B) account. Eligibility for group vision plan through employee‑paid premiums.
