Job summary

Person County Government is seeking dependable and motivated Part-Time Custodians to help keep County facilities clean, safe, and welcoming for staff and visitors. You will perform a variety of custodial duties across multiple buildings and report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.

This non-exempt role requires a valid driver's license, basic reading and writing ability, and the ability to follow established policies. Part-time employees are limited to 1000 hours per calendar year.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing ability sufficient to read and follow simple instructions.
• Must pass job function test and have basic numeracy.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and services offices, rooms, halls, and stairways.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs floors; vacuums carpet.
• Maintain safe working environment.
• Dusts, polishes, washes woodwork and fixtures.
• Empties and cleans trash receptacles; disposes trash.
• Maintains bathrooms in a sanitary condition and refills supplies.
• Reports maintenance needs to supervisor.

Person County Government is seeking dependable and motivated Part-Time Custodians to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming environments in County facilities.

What You'll Do:

As a Custodian with General Services, you'll play an important role in supporting County operations by ensuring public buildings and office spaces are well-maintained and presentable. Responsibilities include performing a variety of custodial and facility care duties across multiple County buildings.

This position works under close to general supervision and follows established policies and procedures. While guidance is provided, employees are expected to use good judgment in determining the most effective way to complete assigned tasks and prioritize daily responsibilities.

The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.

If the position you are applying for requires a degree, education verification will be required as part of the hiring process.

This is a non-exempt position. Part-time employees cannot work more than 1000 hours per calendar year.

• Cleans walls, window, shelves, and mirrors as needed.
• Reports items or issues requiring maintenance repair.

• Completion of sufficient education to ensure the ability to read and write, and some experience in building cleaning work.
• Must pass job function test.

• Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
