Job summary

New Branches Charter Academy is seeking a part-time custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for students and staff.

You'll handle building upkeep, heat/AC regulation, outdoor areas, and coordination with volunteers, delivering reliable, punctual service in a diverse school community.

Hours are 25–29 per week, Monday through Friday, 5pm to 10:30pm, with responsibilities that support daily operations and student well-being.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Solid record of punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Keeps buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning to appropriate temperatures.
• Shovels, plows and salts sidewalks, driveways and steps as appropriate.
• Disinfects bathrooms and cleans all fixtures daily.
• Maintains school grounds with yard-work as needed.
• Opens/closes the building and ensures doors/windows are secured.
• Keeps inventory of supplies and fuel on hand.
• Performs safety inspections of electrical installations.
• Coordinates with volunteers to beautify grounds.
• Reports damage to property and carries out duties assigned by principal/Choice Schools.

About the role

Part‑time 5p-10:30p Shift (Monday - Friday)

Hours will range from 25-29 hours/week.

Create a welcoming and conducive environment for the school community by maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for all occupants of the school. By diligently carrying out their duties, custodians contribute to the overall well‑being and smooth functioning of the educational institution.

What you'll do

• Keeps buildings and premises, including walkways, parking lot and play areas neat and clean at all times.
• Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate for the season and ensures economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
• Shovels, plows and salts sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps, as appropriate.
• Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects bathroom floors and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains on a daily basis.
• Performs such yard‑keeping chores as grass cutting and tree trimming, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
• Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining that all doors and windows are secured and that all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
• Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment and fuel on hand.
• Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition.
• Coordinates and works with volunteers in their efforts to beautify Academy grounds.
• Reports any damage to school property.
• Carries out other duties assigned by the principal and/or Choice Schools.

Qualifications
