Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor is seeking a part-time Custodian to keep our facilities clean, safe, and comfortable for families.

The role involves cleaning guest rooms, common areas, and maintaining high sanitation standards. Schedule is 20 hours per week, Thursday through Sunday, with some flexibility. Prior custodial experience is not required, but reliability and attention to detail are essential.

• Operate standard cleaning equipment such as vacuums and mops.
• Follow cleaning and sanitation procedures to maintain a healthy environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor provides a welcoming “home away from home” for families whose critically ill children are receiving care in the hospital. We provide comfortable lodging, meals, and activities so families can focus on what matters most—their child. We are seeking a part-time Custodian to help keep our facilities clean, safe, and comfortable for the families we serve.

Schedule

20 hours per week, Thursday through Sunday. Thursday and Friday: late afternoon/early evening; Saturday and Sunday: morning/early afternoon. Some flexibility may be permitted.

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities include:

• Clean and disinfect guest rooms, sleeping areas, bathrooms, and other designated spaces.
• Clean and maintain beds and mattresses, floors (carpet and vinyl), toilets, walls, doors, tubs, and showers.
• Remake beds and prepare bathrooms with fresh linens and supplies for incoming guests.
• Clean and maintain common areas, including kitchens and dining rooms.
• Empty trash and clean appliances and other household equipment.
• Operate standard cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, mops, and floor scrubbers.
• Follow established cleaning and sanitation procedures to maintain a healthy environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered

Prior custodial experience not required, however the successful candidate will have:

• A strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
• Good time-management and organizational skills.
• General knowledge of standard cleaning products, supplies, and equipment.
• The ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks reliably.
• A courteous, friendly, and respectful approach when interacting with families, guests, volunteers, and staff.
• Onsite training and mentoring by other custodial team members will be provided

The ability to:

• Walk, stand, bend, stoop, climb, and reach as needed to perform cleaning duties.
