Job summary

Northbridge Public Schools is seeking a Custodian for night shifts in Whitinsville, MA. The role includes cleaning, maintenance, and moving equipment to support daily school operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform the general duties of a custodian in the district
• Carry out assigned cleaning for all areas within frequency requirements, including cleaning windows inside/outside, sweeping walks, snow/ice removal, disinfecting toilets and floors daily
• Move furniture or equipment as required for activities
• Assist in preventive maintenance of school property and mechanical equipment
• Maintain a positive, courteous attitude toward students and staff
• Participate in general repairs as directed, e.g., replacing broken windows
• Clean classrooms, corridors, chalkboards, and other spaces; assist in snow removal
• Lift heavy cartons/boxes (>60 pounds) and set up stages/bleachers
• Provide emergency cleaning or repair services as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations

Job Description

• Perform the general duties of a custodian in the district;
• Carry out assigned cleaning for all areas assigned within the frequency requirements determined by the district to include cleaning windows inside and outside as necessary, sweeping walks and steps keeping them clear of snow and ice, scrubbing and disinfecting toilets and floors daily and cleaning all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily;
• Move furniture or equipment within the building(s) as required for various activities and as directed;
• Assist the district in meeting preventive maintenance needs for all school property as assigned to include maintaining on a regular schedule all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing;
• Reflect an understanding, courteous, and positive attitude toward the students and all employees of the District;
• Participate in necessary general repairs as directed by the principal or designee to include replacing broken windows, etc.;
• Participate in the general cleaning and maintenance of the school building to include cleaning and dusting classrooms, corridors, and other spaces as assigned, cleaning all chalkboards at least once per week or as more often as assigned, and assisting in snow removal;
• Lift cartons, boxes, and buckets weighing in excess of sixty pounds as well as perform activities such as opening and closing school gymnasium bleachers and setting up stages or other such tasks;
• Perform emergency repair or cleaning services when necessary; and,
• Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Operations.

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.43 to $25.15 Per Hour
