The Peralta Community College District is seeking a working-level Custodian to perform a wide range of cleaning duties across classrooms, offices, labs, and common areas. This role emphasizes routine use of standard cleaning materials and equipment with focus on safety and efficiency.
Incumbents should have approximately one year of custodial experience and a readiness to support facilities during events and special projects. A background check will be conducted for new hires.
Under supervision, the Custodian performs a wide variety of custodial duties for cleaning assigned areas, rooms, buildings or office space. It differs from the class of Lead Custodian in that the latter has lead supervisory responsibilities. This is the working level of the custodial series. Incumbents are generally expected to be able to use standard cleaning materials and equipment in the performance of their duties.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate through their application material that they meet the minimum qualifications of the position. All properly completed applications will be reviewed, and the most appropriately qualified individuals will be invited to continue in the selection process. Examinations for the positions may consist of any combination of written, performance, and oral exams to evaluate the applicant's skills, training, and experience for the position.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference/background check (to include a conviction record) and may be required to pass a post-employment medical examination including a drug/alcohol screening depending upon job classification.
