Custodian II Union (Bargaining Unit: SEIU)

Location: Glenville Campus

Pay Grade: B $17.6285

Hours: Full-time, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Job Summary:
Perform routine building cleaning and light maintenance tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment for Library patrons and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Experience: One-year custodial experience preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Ohio Driver's License required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Computer Literacy:

  • Knowledge of cleaning and grounds maintenance techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, including proper mixing and safety.
  • Ability to use custodial equipment such as hand tools, buffers, vacuums, mowers, trimmers, blowers, and carpet cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of business mathematics and English.
  • Ability to adapt to new software and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Windows and electronic communication.
  • Maintain insurable driving status per the Library's fleet insurance standards.
  • Work with potentially hazardous materials, including bodily fluids.
  • Work from scaffolding, ladders, and roofs.
  • Operate power tools and groundkeeping equipment.
  • Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and in a shipping dock environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to attendance and work schedule policies.
  • Follow all work rules, procedures, and policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform cleaning of Library facilities, including trash removal, floor washing, dusting, and window cleaning.
  • Replace supplies such as restroom and kitchen supplies, light bulbs, and cleaning materials.
  • Maintain grounds, including mowing, trimming, weeding, salting walkways, and snow removal.
  • Perform building opening and closing routines.
  • Clear roof drains and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Clean carpeting, furniture, stairwells, and elevator tracks.
  • Move furniture and equipment as needed.
