Job summary

Deerfield Academy is seeking a reliable Custodian to clean and maintain buildings daily under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor and Lead Custodian. Duties include restroom cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and setting up for events.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma, 3–12 months custodial experience, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions with strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Completion of 12th grade or equivalent.
• 3–12 months custodial experience, or a related field.
• Ability to read and write and take oral and written instructions.
• Must pay close attention to detail.
• May work as part of a team or individually.

Responsibilities

• Clean bathrooms, sinks, showers, and locker rooms daily using proper products.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop floors to meet standards for all areas.
• Dust and wash surfaces to maintain cleanliness.
• Remove trash, recycling, and compost from offices and classrooms.
• Move snow or debris to keep entryways safe.
• Request supplies to maintain inventory.
• Report repairs or submit work orders.
• Maintain and use equipment properly.
• Assist with event setups and campus moves.
• Follow safety policies and use PPE.

Job description

The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at time of hire and $500 paid at the end of 90 days of employment).

Reporting to the Custodial Supervisor and taking direction from the Lead Custodian, the Custodiancleans and maintains buildings ensuring all assigned areas are clean on a daily basis.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean bathroom toilets, sinks, showers, and locker rooms on a daily basis, utilizing the propercleaning products to achieve the highest quality of cleanliness
• Vacuum/sweep carpets and stairs, and mop floors, to meet the Academy’s standardsofexcellence for carpeted and non-carpeted areas
• Wash or dust surfaces in buildings to maintain optimum and detailed cleanliness
• Remove trash, recycling, and compost from offices, classrooms, dormitories, and aroundbuildings to designated area.
• Move snow and/or debris from and around buildings to ensure safe foot passage forcommunity, especially entryways
• Request supplies from a supervisor to maintain adequate inventory
• Report needed repairs to supervisor or submit work order
• Maintain equipment as needed.
• Assist with function and event setups, and campus moves, as required.
• Comply with all Academy Safety Program policies and procedures, both on and off Academyproperty, and utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Worker is subject to hazards, including physical conditions, working proximity to movingmechanical parts, electrical currents, high heat and chemicals

• Temperature may vary from below 32 degrees to above 100 degrees
