The City of Murfreesboro, TN, is seeking a reliable custodian to maintain the cleanliness of city facilities and prepare spaces for daily activities and events. This position is safety-sensitive and requires adherence to drug and alcohol testing policies.

Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms and common areas, organizing equipment for meetings, and performing light maintenance to keep facilities secure and presentable for staff and the public.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Three months of janitorial or custodial experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Open and close building; prepare facility for day activities and ensure security at closing.
• Maintain and clean restrooms, drinking fountains, and kitchen in sanitary condition.
• Remove litter and waste; water plants and care for surroundings.
• Replace soap and paper products; mop, sweep, and wax floors; vacuum carpets.
• Clean windows and replace light bulbs and air filters as needed.
• Set up for meetings and move equipment up to 50 pounds; assist with moving items as needed.
• Perform minor repairs to keep facility safe for patrons and employees.

Description

This position is considered a Safety-Sensitive position. Applicants who pass the interview process will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. The purpose of this class within the organization is to maintain the overall cleanliness of the facility and surrounding grounds and set-up for activities and meetings.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to communicate with others in spoken and written English to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the business.
• Opens and closes building; prepares building for day activity; ensures building is secure at closing.
• Maintains and cleans restrooms, drinking fountains and kitchen in a sanitary manner
• Removes litter and waste paper from inside the building and on the surrounding grounds; cares for and waters plants.
• Replaces soap and paper products in dispensers, sweeps, mops, and waxes floors and stairwells on a routine basis; vacuums and cleans carpets.
• Cleans windows; changes light bulbs and air filters as needed.
• Sets up and takes down for meetings and carries equipment, tables, chairs and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Dollies are available to help with moving equipment and furniture.
• Dusts; polishes furniture; cleans window ledges, banisters, ceilings, radiators, and bleachers.
• Performs minor repairs to the facility and equipment as required and ensures the facility is safe for patrons and employees.
• Uses City-owned vehicles to run errands and deliveries.
• Uses a ladder and hand tools including, but not limited to, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, heavy equipment, power tools, pliers, paint brushes, etc.
• Monitor building and report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Some positions may require driving.
• Performs other work as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Three (3) months of janitorial or custodial experience preferred.

Special Certifications And Licenses

• Some positions may require a driver's license
